Candace Campbell Jackson serves as Senior Vice President and Chief of Staff to Chancellor Syverud at Syracuse University. She is also an executive coach through her firm LeaderStart.
An accomplished higher education executive, Candace has been recognized as an exemplary leader in all critical higher education management functions, including academic affairs, board relations, fundraising, grants administration, international programs, and strategic planning.
In addition to her service on GAR’s Distribution Committee, she serves on the boards of Manlius Pebble Hill School and the CNY Community Foundation Say Yes to Education Committee. Prior to joining Syracuse University, Candace served as Chief of Staff/Vice President for Strategic Partnerships/Vice Provost at the University of Akron.
She began her career practicing law in the Public Law and Corporate departments of the law firm Buckingham, Doolittle & Burroughs, LLP, where she counseled municipalities, healthcare organizations, nonprofits, and private foundations in the Akron and Cleveland area.
Candace invested deeply of her time, talent, and treasure when she lived in Akron, serving on the Children’s Services Board, as well as the boards of the Girl Scouts of Northeast Ohio, Business Volunteers Unlimited, and Western Reserve Hospital.
Believe it or not: Candace is a native of Key West who promises that she will find her way back to a tropical climate someday, current detour to Syracuse notwithstanding.
