Prior to retirement in 2008, Kathryn “Kitty” Dindo most recently served as FirstEnergy Corp’s Vice President and Chief Risk Officer. She started her career at Ernst & Young, where she became one of the first female Audit Partners nationally.
At EY, she was responsible for audit, tax, and consulting services for numerous publicly- and privately-owned companies. She went on to lead FirstEnergy Facilities Services Group, a consolidation of 11 mechanical contracting and energy services companies. Additionally, Kitty was Chief Accounting Officer of Caliber System, Inc., (formerly Roadway Services) and was the first female executive of Roadway when she joined in 1994.
At Caliber, a spinout from the Roadway companies started by GAR founder Galen Roush, Kitty was responsible for financial management. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting from The University of Akron and went on to receive the designation of Certified Public Accountant.
In 2005, she was a recipient of the University of Akron Alumni Honor Award and is a distinguished alumna. She is a member of many boards and committees, including the J. M. Smucker Company, Bush Brothers and Company, and Allete, Inc. She is currently Vice-Chair of The University of Akron Foundation and previously served as chair of Akron Community Foundation, as well as a trustee of Cleveland Clinic Akron General, Community Health Ventures and Walsh Jesuit High School.
Believe it or not: Kitty loves to travel and has visited every continent except Antarctica, which is absolutely on her bucket list.
