For more than two decades, Summit Artspace has been a cornerstone of Akron's arts community, providing artists with the space, resources, and connections they need to grow their creative practice while welcoming thousands of visitors through exhibitions, events, and programs. Through several rounds of GAR Foundation capital grant support, Summit Artspace has thoughtfully invested in its historic building to better serve both artists and the community.
Most recently, a major renovation improved accessibility and wayfinding while preserving and highlighting the building's historic character. New front doors complement the original art deco design, updated pathways better connect spaces throughout the building. Renovations also included refreshed galleries and event spaces, upgraded lighting, a new HVAC system, and other improvements that create a more welcoming experience for visitors and stronger spaces for artists to create and exhibit their work.
As Summit Artspace continues to support artists through every stage of the creative process, these investments ensure the space remains a vibrant community asset where creativity, connection, and opportunity can thrive.
