What does it take for youth to feel safe on their way to and from school? A new pilot program called Safe Passages is showing what’s possible. Backed by a GAR Emergent Needs grant, Marcel McDaniel—Founder and Executive Director of Non Stop Growth—and his team of Curbside Counselors are showing up each day as trusted community members along routes near Buchtel CLC.
By building relationships, offering guidance, and stepping in early, they’re helping create safer paths to and from school. This pilot will help to establish a proof of concept and demonstrate what’s possible when community-led solutions strengthen neighborhood safety.
